Download & Security Verification Policy
Last updated: October 2026. This policy outlines our multi-tiered security pipeline for every Android application hosted on our repository.
1. Multi-Stage Technical Verification
Every APK submitted to Yono Games undergoes strict automated server-side verification before reaching a human reviewer:
- Magic Bytes & ZIP Integrity: We verify that uploaded files match standard ZIP archive structures (
0x50 0x4B 0x03 0x04) and contain genuine compiled assets (AndroidManifest.xml,classes.dex). Renamed executables, batch scripts, and corrupted archives are automatically rejected. - Cryptographic Checksums: We compute SHA-256 and MD5 fingerprints. These hashes are permanently displayed on the game detail page so users can independently verify that their downloaded file matches the published binary bit-for-bit.
- Heuristic Malware Scanning: Automated scans evaluate binary archives against multi-engine signature databases (including ClamAV definitions and heuristic adware droppers). Any file triggering threat alerts is immediately quarantined.
- Signing Certificate Fingerprinting: We extract and log the SHA-256 fingerprint of the developer's signing certificate. Subsequent updates are inspected for certificate consistency to prevent unauthorized hijacking or tampering.
2. Android Sideloading Disclosures
When downloading APK files outside Google Play, Android displays a prompt to allow "Install unknown apps" from the browser. This is standard Android operating system sandboxing.
Never disable Google Play Protect. Yono Games never asks you to disable Play Protect, install third-party root toolkits, or grant administrative device privileges.
3. Security Incident Response & File Revocation
If a security vulnerability, unexpected adware library, or malicious payload is identified in a previously approved file, our security operations team initiates immediate revocation:
- The download token generator is immediately invalidated.
- The file binary is relocated to isolated quarantine storage.
- A public revocation notice is posted on the listing page.
- All download endpoints return an explicit HTTP 403 Security Revocation status.
4. Reporting a Vulnerability
Security researchers and users can report suspected malware or vulnerabilities to our dedicated response desk at security@yonogames.com.
